What is an agentic website builder?
How agentic builders differ from template publishers, and what to verify before you depend on generated code.
An agentic website builder uses an AI agent to create and edit source code from prompts—often iterating across multiple files, installs, and configs. You are closer to pair-programming than filling in a visual template.
That is different from hosted AI website builders (Wix AI, Framer AI, etc.) that publish a site inside their SaaS. Those tools prioritize drag-and-drop publishing; agentic tools prioritize codegen and export.
What to check before you commit
- Output type — UI-only snippets vs full-stack apps.
- Export — Git sync, zip download, or lock-in.
- Hosting — vendor cloud vs bring-your-own.
- Licensing — terms for generated code and third-party components.
- Security — secrets handling, dependency review, and auth you must add yourself.
